Fort Wayne Wizards - MiLB Brand Identity

Visual Identity / Logo Design

The older I get, the more I fall in love with the game of baseball.  There’s something about the psychology of the game that I find fascinating.  Whether it’s the chess match between pitcher and batter, the strategy in utilizing each member of the roster, or the intricacies of each field, I just can’t get enough.

The very first professional baseball game I ever attended was watching the Fort Wayne Wizards, a minor league team affiliated with the Minnesota Twins.  I can’t recall the year, or if the roster featured Wizards legends Torii Hunter or LaTroy Hawkins, but I do remember the stadium’s bright blue seats and the giant bearded mascot, “Wayne”.

As time passed on, Memorial Stadium became dated and the Wizards relocated to downtown Fort Wayne. Along with the move, came a new name, the TinCaps. Wayne had to turn in his wizard hat and robe and was replaced by “Johnny TinCap”. Johnny, a play-on Johnny Appleseed, is a smiling human mascot with a pot for a cap. The TinCaps have a great brand, a great fanbase, and have had some amazing teams over the years, but I’ve always had a nostalgic itch to bring “Wayne” back to life and wonder, what if the Wizards existed today?  The following presentation is a conceptual rebrand showcasing the new and improved 2023 Fort Wayne Wizards.

Team Uniforms & Apparel

The team’s wardrobe consists of 5 main uniform sets, which include: Home, Home Alternate, Away, Away Alternate, and Camouflage.  In addition, as commonly seen in Minor League Baseball, the team would include several uniform sets for promotional nights.
